GearIQ private beta · last updated 8 October 2026

What GearIQ is

GearIQ is a sizing tool. You give it a measurement, it tells you which size a manufacturer's own published size chart points to, how confident that answer is, and why. In this beta it covers youth hockey helmets from Bauer and CCM, and nothing else.

What GearIQ is not

  • Not a guaranteed fit. A size chart is a starting point. Heads and bodies vary, products vary between model years, and the only way to know something fits is to try it on.
  • Not a safety certification. We do not test equipment, certify it, or assess whether it will prevent an injury. Certification is the manufacturer's and the certifying body's business, not ours.
  • Not medical advice. We make no claims about injury prevention or health outcomes.
  • Not a shop. You cannot buy anything here. We do not show prices, we do not claim anything is in stock, and we do not sell equipment.
  • Not affiliated with any manufacturer or retailer. We read publicly published size charts. Bauer and CCM have not endorsed, reviewed, or partnered with GearIQ, and we do not claim otherwise.

Your responsibility, stated plainly

Confirm the final fit in person before you buy, and follow the manufacturer's fit instructions for the specific product. For helmets, do not choose a loose one to get another season out of it — the guidance shown with every helmet result explains what to check.

If a recommendation looks wrong to you, trust your own eyes and a qualified hockey retailer over this tool, and please tell us.

What we ask of you during the beta

  • Use it for your own player, not for commercial resale advice.
  • Do not forward your invitation link.
  • Tell us when something is wrong, confusing, or feels untrustworthy. That is the entire purpose of this beta, and unflattering feedback is more useful than kind feedback.

Beta software, honestly

This is pre-release software in a private test. It may be unavailable, it may change without notice, and features may be added or removed. Data recorded during the beta may be deleted at the end of it. Nothing here is a commitment to launch a product, to keep it free, or to keep it the same.

Liability

GearIQ is provided as-is during this beta, without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on a sizing recommendation. That is the ordinary legal language, and here is the plain-English version of the same thing: this tool is a well-researched starting point, the fitting room is the decision, and equipment that fits badly is a safety risk no tool can take off your hands.
