Riedell — "How to Size Figure Skates at Home"

Sizing METHOD — the maker publishes no size table, only this way of finding the size.

From Riedell (as printed):

“Place a blank sheet of paper on a flat, hard surface like wood or tile.”

“Stand barefoot with one foot on the paper and your heel against a wall.”

“Mark the longest part of your foot—usually the big toe—with a pencil.”

“Measure the distance from the edge of the paper (at the wall) to the toe mark in centimeters.”

“Repeat with the other foot. Use the longer length when choosing your skate size.”

“Once you've measured your foot, compare it to the brand's sizing chart. Don't just convert it to shoe size. Each brand builds its skates differently, and some are available in narrow or wide widths.”

“When choosing a size, always fit the larger foot to ensure comfort and prevent pressure points.”

“At Riedell, we offer split sizing, for customized and regular boots.”

Riedell's blog prose about sizing down from street shoes is not the same on every page (one page: women start ½ to 1 full size down, men the same size or ½ smaller; another: skates usually 1 to 2 sizes smaller, most people 1 to 1.5 sizes smaller). It is prose guidance only and is never used to size.
